NEWS
We are pleased to announce our representation of Sam McKinniss. The images, figures, and environments that appear in his paintings speak to the uncanny, unsettling atmospheres of the internet and popular culture. The artist will be included in our group presentation at Art Basel Miami Beach in December. In February 2024, the gallery will show a solo presentation of McKinniss’s work at Frieze Los Angeles. A recent major piece in The New York Times discusses the life and legacy of Chico da Silva (b. circa 1910, d. 1985), ahead of our exhibition opening on October 27 in New York that will feature some 25 paintings and works on paper from the prolific Brazilian artist. In the article, Hilarie M. Sheets identifies "a new wave of interest and scholarship is reassessing Chico’s work and revisiting questions of authorship, autonomy and exoticizing that surrounded his story." Read more here.
EXHIBITIONS
Huma Bhabha's solo exhibition A fly appeared, and disappeared at MO.CO. Montpellier Contemporain (on view November 18, 2023 – January 28, 2024) brings together different eras, materials, and iconic forms to create works that bring forth anthropomorphic and hybrid presences by constantly adding, layering, and cutting materials. Approximately 50 works will be displayed at MO.CO.: cork and polystyrene sculptures, bronzes, drawings, engravings, ink on C-prints, and ceramics will form a welcoming horde, guiding us through the artist’s own syncretism. Exhibitions
Announcing Oh My God You Guys, a solo exhibition from Torbjørn Rødland at Le Consortium in Dijon, France. The exhibition opens and closes with two photographs, representing a baby and an old man, respectively. The show is designed as a journey leading from one to the other, namely from childhood to old age, and highlights a selection of Rødland’s photographs in which two more or less conflicting characters are featured. On view October 27, 2023 – March 31, 2024. Read more here.
