David Kordansky Gallery seeks a highly motivated, extremely organized, and collaborative individual to join our team as Artist Liaison. Reporting to the Director, Artist Relations, the Artist Liaison is a critical role within the Artist Relations department, acting as the primary point of contact at the gallery for assigned artists. The Artist Liaison exercises both independent and collaborative strategic decision-making while managing artists and their projects (exhibitions, art fairs, the production of new work) and coordinates all communication between gallery staff, artists, and their studios. This position is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, requiring flexibility for additional hours based on the needs of the gallery, and may include a limited amount of travel. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management of artists from gallery roster, including fostering and maintaining close relationships by advising and advocating for artists’ needs and best interests
Liaise between artists, museums, and gallery staff for institutional exhibitions, acting as the main contact at the gallery for exhibition project coordination
Communicate regularly with artists, offering support, gathering information, and reporting back to gallery staff on artwork production, fabrication, exhibitions, presentations, special events, applications, works at auction, and press requests
Research, develop, and retain an in-depth knowledge of artists’ practices and biographies, communicating this knowledge to staff, clients, and visitors in an articulate, professional manner
Manage artists’ production, exhibition, and fair schedules, and communicate these deadlines to the artists
Coordinate artists’ gallery exhibitions and fair presentations
Communicate details of new artwork inventory to gallery staff, supporting artists and the sales team in the presentation of new work
Monitor the documentation of artists’ projects and, with the Archivist and Registrars, ensure records are updated
Schedule studio visits, coordinate hospitality needs, organize artist meetings and travel
QUALIFICATIONS:

We seek candidates who are extremely selfmotivated, responsible, and efficient, and who hold a sincere appreciation for and experience with navigating diverse cultural spaces. In addition:
Knowledge of contemporary art required
Professional experience at a contemporary art gallery strongly preferred; experience in a contemporary art museum setting welcomed
Minimum (2) years of experience as an artist liaison assistant, sales assistant/associate, assistant/associate curator, or related administrative role strongly preferred; four (4) years of professional work experience welcomed
Bachelor’s degree in art history or related field required; advanced degree preferred; consideration given to candidates with related work experience
Highly detail-oriented, editorially minded, and precise, with exceptional organizational skills
Enjoys project and people management; can complete tasks with persistence, patience, and discretion
Project management experience in long-term exhibition-planning and/or fabrication, including scheduling, communication between multiple parties, and budgeting
Adept at creative problem-solving, anticipating and resolving issues quickly
Excellent verbal and written communicator
Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Self-motivated, responsible, and efficient
Skills in a Mac-based environment required, including: Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Skills in the Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat) preferred
Basic knowledge of databases such as Artlogic (or similar) preferred
Fluent in English; fluency in an additional language welcomed
Preference is given to candidates with expert knowledge of global contemporary art, including art of the African Diaspora, Latin America, and Asia

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This is a full-time salaried position.
The pay scale for this position is $65,000 – $85,000 annually.
